November 2026 | Rotary Foundation Month

A Message from District Governor Yuhui Chen

As Rotarians, we often talk about the lives we change. But lately, I've been thinking about something else.

What about the ways Rotary changes us?
The friendships we build. The joy we find in serving. The sense of purpose that keeps us connected through every season of life.

Research suggests something beautiful: kindness, generosity, and volunteering can bring us greater happiness, stronger connections, and a deeper sense of purpose, especially as we grow older.

We join Rotary to make a difference in the world. Yet along the way, we discover that giving is also a gift to ourselves.

November is Rotary Foundation Month, a time to celebrate the generosity that makes so much of Rotary's work possible.

The Rotary Foundation is often called the engine of Rotary because it turns our compassion into action. Through Foundation grants, our contributions help bring clean water to families, education to children, better healthcare to communities, and hope to people facing difficult circumstances.

What makes our Foundation special is that our generosity reaches both across the world and right here at home. When we give to the Annual Fund-SHARE, we help create future grant opportunities that support meaningful projects in District 5150 and beyond.

This is also the spirit of our District theme, Seasons of Love. No matter the season, The Rotary Foundation helps us turn love into action and create lasting impact.

This November, I have three simple invitations for you:
  • Give kindness. Reach out to someone who could use encouragement or friendship.
  • Give your time. Join a service project and experience the joy of making a difference together.
  • Give what you can. Support The Rotary Foundation through Every Rotarian, Every Year (EREY).

If you haven't made your Foundation gift this Rotary year, I invite you to consider $25 a month through Rotary Direct—that's $300 a year. Whether your gift is larger or smaller, what matters most is participating and being part of something greater than ourselves. Make your gift at www.rotary.org/donate.

Imagine the possibilities if every Rotarian across our 42 clubs committed to support The Rotary Foundation. Together, we can transform generosity into opportunity, hope, and lasting change.

As we celebrate this season of gratitude, I invite you to ask:
Whose life can I make a little better today?

Thank you for your generosity and all you do for Rotary. When we change lives, we change our own.

One District. One Heart. Turning Love into Action!

With gratitude,

YuHui Chen
